Multiple People Shot in Active Shooter Situation on Kentucky Highway, Suspect on the Run

London, KY – A tragic shooting incident occurred on Saturday evening near Interstate 75, just north of the small city of London, Kentucky. Authorities have confirmed that multiple individuals were shot in what has been described as an active shooter situation.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting took place around 5:30 PM local time. The interstate was promptly closed to traffic as law enforcement and emergency services responded to the scene. Governor Andy Beshear has been briefed on he situation and is actively monitoring developments.
According to initial reports, seven people were injured, though not all injuries were due to gunfire. Some victims were hurt in a related vehicle accident. Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported at this time.
A person of interest, identified as 32-year-old Joseph A. Couch, has been named by the authorities. He is currently "at large" and considered armed and dangerous. The public is advised not to approach him.
The incident has prompted a significant response from local, state, and federal agencies, including the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which is assisting in the investigation.
Governor Beshear has urged the community to pray for those affected and assured that more details will be provided as they become available.
