Carroll County Investigator Fatally Shot While Serving Warrant

Carrollton, GA – The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is grieving the loss of Investigator Taylor Bristow, who tragically died after being shot while serving a search warrant. The incident occurred on August 20, 2024 and Bristow succumbed to his injuries on August 23, 2024.

Investigator Bristow, 30, was assisting the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) in executing a search warrant related to a child exploitation case in Carrollton. During the operation, the suspect, Christopher Bly, opened fire, striking Bristow. Bly was found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot would.

Despite immediate medical intervention and surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital, Bristow’s injuries proved fatal. His passing has left a profound void in the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and the community he served for six years. 

Sheriff Terry Langley expressed his deep sorrow, stating, "Investigator Bristow was a dedicated and courageous officer. Hi commitment to protecting our community was unwavering, and his loss is a tremendous blow to all of us."
