Osage Beach Police Officer Tragically Dies in Pursuit Accident

Osage Beach, MO – In a heartbreaking incident early Saturday morning, Officer Phylicia Carson of the Osage Beach Police Department lost her life in a tragic traffic accident while in the line of duty. Officer Carson, a dedicated public servant and mother of six, was pursuing a suspect when the fatal crash occurred.
The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. on Route A, just east of Route C. Officer Carson had initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on westbound Highway 54 near Passover Road. The driver, however, refused to stop, leading to a high-speed police chase. During the pursuit, Officer Carson's police vehicle skidded off the road and struck a tree. The police cruiser then caught fire.
Despite the immediate response from emergency services, Officer Carson succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Officer Phylicia Carson was 33 years old and had been with the Osage Beach Police Department since June 2023.
Osage Beach Police Chief Todd Davis expressed his profound sorrow at a press conference, stating, "Officer Carson was a dedicated officer and a loving mother. Her loss is a tremendous blow to our department and the community she served so selflessly."
Officer Carson leaves behind her husband and six children. The suspect involved in the pursuit was later apprehended and is currently in custody.
The Osage Beach community is rallying around Officer Carson’s family, offering support and condolences during this incredibly difficult time. A memorial service is being planned to honor her life and service.
This tragic event underscores the inherent risks law enforcement officers face daily in their commitment to protect and serve. Officer Carson’s bravery and dedication will not be forgotten.
